Apple’s 2026 iPhone line-up introduces three new flagship models: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the company’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. This year’s range brings the new A20 Pro chip, upgraded camera hardware and improved battery life, while the iPhone Duo introduces an entirely new foldable form factor to the iPhone family.

In Australia, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at A$2,099, the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at A$2,299, and the iPhone Duo starts at A$3,499. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max became available on 18 September 2026, while the iPhone Duo is scheduled for release on 23 October 2026.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max Australian Pricing

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are available with storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Australian pricing starts at A$2,099 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro and A$2,299 for the equivalent iPhone 18 Pro Max. Higher-capacity models increase substantially in price, with the 2TB Pro Max reaching A$4,699.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are available in four colours: silver, black, glacier and burgundy.

Australian Release Date and Availability

Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max opened in Australia at 10:00 pm AEST on 12 September 2026. Both models were released on 18 September 2026.

The iPhone Duo follows a later launch schedule. Australian pre-orders begin on 16 October 2026, with general availability starting on 23 October 2026.

What’s New with iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max?

A20 Pro Chip

Both iPhone 18 Pro models are powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2-nanometre process. The chip combines a 6-core CPU with a 7-core GPU and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the new GPU delivers up to 40% faster performance than the A19 Pro GPU.

Apple has also redesigned the thermal system. A next-generation vapour chamber offers three times more surface area than the previous generation, helping the new models maintain higher performance during demanding workloads.

6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Displays

The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch OLED display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max uses a larger 6.9-inch OLED display. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate. Apple has also redesigned the Dynamic Island, allowing it to display more information while occupying less display space.

48MP Camera System with Variable Aperture

One of the most significant upgrades is the new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. The system gives users greater control over low-light photography and depth of field. It is joined by a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera, giving both Pro models three 48MP rear cameras.

The new camera system supports up to 8x optical-quality zoom, further expanding the shooting range available from the Pro models.

Improved Battery Life

Battery life has also increased. Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro for up to 34 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide up to 43 hours of video playback. The iPhone 18 Pro can also reach up to 50% charge in around 15 minutes with compatible wired charging.

iPhone Duo: Apple’s First Foldable iPhone

The iPhone Duo represents the biggest change to the iPhone form factor in the 2026 range. Rather than using a conventional single-screen design, the device unfolds to provide a much larger internal display while retaining a smaller external screen for use when closed.

The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer OLED display and a 7.6-inch folding OLED display on the inside. Both support refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Like the Pro models, the iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip. Its rear camera system uses two 48MP cameras and supports 0.5x, 1x and 2x shooting options, with up to 2x optical-quality zoom.

The iPhone Duo is available in Star White and Night Sky, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options. Australian pricing starts at A$3,499 for 256GB and reaches A$5,899 for the 2TB model.

iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Duo Compared

For 2026, Apple has taken two different approaches at the premium end of its iPhone range. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max retain the familiar Pro format while introducing significant upgrades to performance, cameras and battery life.
